| EMT and Paramedic curriculum's still adhere to the “scene safe, body substance isolation”... Proceed dogma. Despite excellent training talented responders operating outside their normal role do not always have the skills or equipment needed to recognize hazards, and take protective measures to safely and effectively work in the post disaster and unconventional emergency environment. Basic Rescue and Emergency Care uses an all hazards approach to introduce participants to skill-sets needed to identify hazards, determine scene safety, and perform immediate life saving procedures during removal of an entrapped patient to a place of safety. This class is like no other, students will break down doors, knock down walls and repelled in elevator shafts. Students will be very hands on all class. Basic Rescue and Emergency Care is based on the belief that rescue is not static. It is a transportation emergency; rescue is the integration of medicine and movement. Training adopts the same principles developed for Federal Disaster Teams. That is; regardless of the incident, and after assessing and mitigating hazards basic principals remain the same. Rescuers make a risk benefit decision to... LOCATE... ACCESS... STABILIZE... and TRANSPORT The Massachusetts Basic Rescue Emergency Care Course is hosted and run by the Emergency Preparedness Program Consultants Inc.
